My inquiry question is: in what ways do mentors improve pedagogically when working remotely with students.
The learning goal for my students (mentors) is: active engagement leads to active learning for students. How to engage students actively?
Indicators for success: student enjoyment[student surveys],
mentors using constructivist practices (open-ended questions, use of wait time, interesting topics,) [coach rubrics]
students show up, [log file]
mentors feel positive about their sessions, [mentor survey, weekly and possibly from beginning workshop and maybe entry and exit from Feb. workshop]
student learning, students ask questions and demonstrate engagement. [intern rubrics]
focal students:
Chris T (worried about his inability to engage students, too lecturey)
Prenab (worried about student math ability)
Helen (very strong mentor)
Swapna (worried about her inability to engage student)
Lynn (student seems somewhat disengaged and resistant)
